Andrew Biren and Spencer Goldberg obtained a settlement for $1,602,500 for an electrician who suffered a serious neck injury resulting in a neck fusion surgery when a barrier arm vehicle entrance/exit gate came smashing down on his head as he exited the massive mixed use construction project he was working at in West Hollywood to get some lunch. Prior to the barrier arm slamming down on his head, security opened the barrier arm gate and instructed the electrician to exit the premises using the vehicular entrance exit in violation of company and job site policies and procedures. The gate ultimately came down on the electrician because it could only sense whether vehicles were in the path of the gate, not people.
